Rainforest Animals And Their World

Tropical rainforests cover large portions of the globe. Although the South American rainforests of Ecuador and the Amazon region are first thought of, there are many other tropical rain forests. Sub Saharan Africa has rainforests and even the continent of Australia has tropical regions where rainforests can be found. All rain forests are inhabited by thousands of species of rainforest animals.

Many tropical rainforest animals are not found anywhere else in the world. The region they inhabit is their home. Each rainforest region has certain species that are truly unique and scientists and explorers continue to add new species to the list annually.
The Amazon and South American regions are home to many of the largest and densest rainforests in the world. These regions are inhabited by Amazon Rainforest animals which are colorful, strange and sometimes very dangerous. From small insects, such as ants and spiders, to large monkeys and primates and birds of every description tropical rainforests are the most diverse regions of the world.

In the Amazon the bird species are truly spectacular. From the large Red and Gold Winged Macaws to smaller birds of paradise and the large billed Toucan the Amazon is home to thousands of species of birds. Reptiles are also common among the tropical Amazon regions. Iguanas, crocodiles and hundreds of species of snakes all live in the Amazon Rain Forests. Some of these cute rainforest animals are endangered and special care must be taken to protect them. There are many species of Tropical rainforest omnivores that eat both meat and vegetables. Several monkeys are in this category.

Other species of Amazon Rainforest animals include the monkeys and primates. Spider monkeys, howler monkeys and larger primate groups swing through the trees and their calls can be heard for miles. Explorers and botanists who have traveled to the top of the tree canopy find these monkeys living high up and enjoying the tropical fruits that are found in the trees.
